Santiago, Chile

Santiago has gone to the dogs - literally. Sitting in our awesome corner hotel room on the 2nd floor, we have wall to wall windows and a perfect view of the street. While locals wait on street corners for the light to change, well behaved dogs wait by their sides. Interestingly enough, the dogs seem to be walking themselves. Packs of dogs (collared but without owners in sight) obey traffic laws and greet each other on the sidewalk much like the businessmen on their way to work - but with more butt sniffing.

But all of you are probably curious about our journey here. After our last post we threw our 3 backpacks (Big Blue, Rex and Clive) and our army issued messenger bag (Molly) into the car and headed for LAX. 2 blocks en route we realized we forgot the straws for the water bottles, all our plane snacks, and Melinda's fleece. Back on the road again we were pulling into LAX when we realized we didn't pack the camera. It was a classic, "but I thought you grabbed it" moment. Or as Curtis puts it, an "ah shit" moment.

Flights were nothing special. Except for the small geyser that erupted all over Melinda's lap. Apparently Nathan metal water bottles don't handle changes in pressure very well. Let's just say the woman sitting next to Melinda had a good laugh, while the victim (Melinda's pants) spent a good two hours cold and wet. Ahh, traveling.

In Atlanta we rushed from terminal A to terminal E and managed to pick up a cheap panasonic for $130 along the way.

Flight to Chile was 9 hours of drooling. Each time one of us woke up, we'd mop up our own drool only to turn and see our sibling slobbering away. Very attractive.

After an hour and a half of customs lines we managed to find Rachel (looking equally tired, but happy to see us) and got a cab to the hotel.

So here we are. Downtown Santiago. Hungry.

But now it's time to hunt and gather. Think good food thoughts for us. =)
